Whether you’re single or dating, we all go on dates with our boos, friends, families, girlfriends. And I’m here for all of them. I love taking the time out of my schedule to spend time with the people I love. It’s an instant pick me up when I get to hang out with my girlfriends, with friends, with Alex plus it’s a good reminder that life is more than your 9-5 job. It’s about the relationships you have and the people you love.
I wanted to share with you some fun summer date ideas because I don’t know about you but Alex and I sometimes struggle with this. Like we both work and sometimes our date nights are making dinner together and watching West World. AND there’s nothing wrong with that! We love doing that but every so often, we like to escape somewhere and do something new to spice things up. And it’s so funny because one of my girlfriends literally just texted me asking me for date ideas. So I know I’m not the only one that struggles to keep things fun and exciting hahaa. Let me know what kind of dates you guys like to go on.
Even if you don’t know how to skate or rollerblade (like me), this is always a fun thing to do with friends and family. I remember growing up and going to the Pines Arena to ice skate and I was literally the WORST out of all my friends. I would latch onto them like a leech and then when I felt like I was gonna fall, I’d pull them down and we’d both fall. And if you’re looking for some cool places, I’d definitely put Basement Miami on the top of your list. The vibe is so chill + super Instagram worthy. And right across the way, there’s a bowling alley. So you can hit up two spots in one night. #basementmiamiFTW and they’re currently offering free bowling and ice skating on Sundays.
Okay before you guys say anything, I know you might be thinking “what the heck Cindy” but I love Ikea and really wanted to throw this one in here because it’s something that Alex and I have done and we LOVE it hahaa. Get an early start to your Saturday morning and head to your closest Ikea for breakfast. I’ve mentioned it before on my Instagram & I’ll mention it again on here. Ikea. Does. Not. Play. With. Breakfast. Wish I was kidding but every single time Alex and I have gone to Ikea, we’ve ran into crowds of people doing the same thing, getting their breakfast on. And ya girl can’t blame them. A $5 bill at Ikea will go a long way. After stuffing your face, make your way around the store, enjoy it, make an excuse for why you need that super cute rug or lamp in your room. PS. this is also a great date for me, myself, and I. I know I’m not the only one who loves to shop alone.
Coffee is my absolute life so it’s no surprise this is on the list. Alex and I love just hanging out at coffee shops and catching up (phones excluded). Even though we see each other every day, we both work full-time jobs and by the time we’re together, we just wanna relax, eat dinner, workout, and go to sleep. Literally what we do. So it’s nice to stop for a second and really sit down with your girlfriends, your mom, or you SO and hear about what’s going on in their lives. This date also works out if you guys are both busy but still wanna spend time together. We’ll sometimes bring our laptops, grab a drink and a bite to eat and then we’ll hit the ground running with whatever it is we have to do, send emails, write posts, make appointments, anything really. And I love it because we still get to enjoy each other’s company. PS. I have a whole post on a few of my favorite coffee spots and places to study, you can catch all that right here.
So it has been a long minute since we’ve done this one and with all this rain lately, it just wouldn’t work. But on sunnier days, catching a movie at a drive-in is so much fun! You almost feel like you’re back in time hahaa. In case you didn’t know, the Swap Shop in Ft. Lauderdale has its own drive-in theater. It’s the coolest experience to just drive up to a parking lot, park your car, grab some snacks from the concession stand and sit back and relax. We love it and tickets are cheaper than regular movie tickets. Plus you’ll get major brownie points, it’s so chill and romantic.
Grab your favorite ice cream and head to the beach or park. Out of all the dates, this is probably the one Alex and I do the most often. We’ll grab our beach chairs, a blanket and head to the beach. Lately, it’s been Haulover Park because parking is so easy and simple plus it’s never crowded so it’s the perfect spot to get away even if it’s for a little bit. And throw in your favorite ice cream. I was and still am obsessed with Halo Top. Remember that time I couldn’t stop talking about them on Insta? Hahaa my favorite flavors are Vanilla Bean, Birthday Cake, and Cookies & Cream. They’re so good you guys. And they have some CRAZY good recipes you can try right here.
Sending so much love your way! Let me know what your favorite dates are.
