If you’re on the struggle bus when it comes to money (like me) but still want to go out and have a good time with friends and family, Miami isn’t leaving you behind. The year is starting off with soo many awesome events happening around the city. Like, this past weekend it was all about Art Deco where they had the annual Bark Deco Dog Show, Live Jazz Music, Guided Tours, and Street Entertainment. If you missed it, no worries! I recently started to feature upcoming events on my Instastory #shamelessplug #newyearnewme lol totally kidding. But seriously! Follow along with me so you never miss a thing! And I’ve been thinking of adding a Miami Guide tab to Cinsity. Tell me what you guys think! It would basically be a whole guide to my favorite places to eat, go to, museums, entertainment, etc. all in one place.
Okay okay. Let’s get on with the good stuff.
Miami Jewish Film Festival – $
Spice up your basic outing to the movies and head to the Jewish Film Festival happening from Jan. 11-25th. Tickets are the same price as a regular movie theater ticket but you’ll leave this theater knowing more about history than when you came in. One of the films that really caught my attention is the documentary, A Call To Remember which tells the personal story of Holocaust survivor, David Schaecter. If history isn’t really your thing, check out The Hero. A tense thriller from the writers of The Color Purple, Indiana Jones, and The Last Crusade. Alex and I might go watch this one.

Movies Under the Stars at Atton Brickell Miami – Free
Take advantage of this amazing weather we’ve been having recently and take your movie outdoor. Every Sundays, Atton Brickell hosts Movies Under the Stars. Come hang out at their rooftop pool and catch the sunset right before the movie starts at 5:30PM. Entrance is free but they offer food and drink specials. HOLLA. Ohh and did I mention free popcorn?

Riverwalk Chili Cook Off – $
Okay. So I couldn’t believe it when I came across this event. I’ve always wanted to go to Chili Cook Off until someone told me there’s no chili…lol. I’m so serious guys. But Riverwalk in Fort Lauderdale is hosting their Chili Cook Off on Saturday, January 28th! The event is free but $5 will get you samples of the chilis and you can cast your vote on who had the best one. $5! My gum costs almost $5 lol. Besides the chili, there’s gonna be live music, cold beer, vendors.

Time Out Miami: Mac n Cheese Smackdown – $$
So clearly I’m a foodie and I couldn’t leave out my friends at Time Out Miami who will be hosting the BIGGEST Mac n Cheese Smackdown in the Magic City. Happening on January 21, local restaurants like Mac & Chess, Ms.Cheezious, The Butcher Shop, and so many more will be going head to head for the best mac n cheese in town. For $25, you get to try each station’s mac n cheese along with two complimentary drinks. And of course, what’s a showdown without some live music and giveaways.

I hope you guys liked this style of post! I know for me personally, I’ve been struggling financially and it’s okay! Sometimes you want to go out and distract yourself from your life a little. So I really aimed for events that cost little to nothing. If you wanna see more posts like this one, drop me a line. I love reading your comments.
Sending you so much love!
