Our Story: How We Met

Our Story: How We Met

Happy New Year everyone! Hope this holiday season has been filled with so much love, laughter, and amazing food. I can’t believe it’s over. But cheers to OUR best year yet.

The past three years have been an absolute whirlwind. They’ve been filled with so much love, laughter, joy, and tears. I’d be lying if I said there weren’t bumps in the road. But our love and openness helped us overcome many obstacles. Our story is unconventional and honest.

This Is Us.

Alex and I met through a mutual friend at work. At the time I was working at a convenience store on campus called Breezeway. Shoutout FIU. Best FIRST job ever, but anyways he was being interviewed for a position at the store and next thing I knew, he was my new manager. Funny enough, we had met prior to this. It was our mutual friend’s birthday and she invited both of us to her birthday dinner where we both showed up with the people we were dating at that time.

Not long after, I had put in my two weeks at the job. But before leaving, Alex made me a deal. We were joking around one night at work and he said whoever makes a pizza the fastest has to take the other person out. Of course, I lost (my pizza skills were horrible lol). So a few weeks passed and at the time I didn’t know it but we would be on our first date at an Irish pub.

So months and months would pass by and I found myself hanging out with Alex every weekend. We’d text non-stop throughout the week and we’d be so excited to see each other once Saturdays or Sundays rolled around. But I tried to tell myself that we were just friends, nothing more. I wasn’t looking for a relationship because I was still working on myself. An ex-boyfriend had cheated on me not long before meeting Alex and it really hurt my self-esteem and self-confidence. So I made a promise to myself that I’d work on myself. But I soon found myself wanting more after months of getting to know Alex. He was different and always listened to what I had to say. He went to church every Sunday and his faith showed me how gracious and kind he was and still is. And it didn’t hurt that he was covered in tattoos which I found incredibly sexy hahaaha.

Finally, after 5 months of dating/courtship/getting to know each other, on Oct. 26th 2014 Alex asked me to be his girlfriend. At that point, I was like FINALLY! That’s also when we had our first kiss and it felt so electrifying and so real. That’s when I knew that this was the man for me. And we’ve been dating ever since. At the beginning, it was hard because I think we both carried a lot of baggage from past relationships but we soon realized that being open and honest with each other was the only way we’d get through our issues.

Fast-forward to 3 years later and we’re engaged! That’ll be a whole other post. Thanks for reading this long but short/condensed version of our story. We love you guys!
