From the decorations to dressing up, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! Living in Miami, there’s always a ton of parties and events going on. So if you don’t have any plans yet or want to do something different this year (waiting in line for three hours at HHN got old real quick), here are some ideas to keep in mind:
1. Halloween Sundowner in Vizcaya: Happening Oct. 29th. Held in the gorgeous estate of James Deering. The theme this year is 1920s. There will be 5 full bars, bayfront music & dancing on the Biscayne Bay, live music, and a costume contest. MUST BE 21. Sorry little ones. Tickets are on sale now. http://vizcayahalloween.org/
2. Spooktober at Zoo Miami: Zoo Miami has a ton of events perfect for all crowds. The Monster Masquerade is happening on Oct. 17. There will be an open bar, savory treats, a haunted house, and a costume contest. Then Zoo Boo is happening from Oct. 24-25 11am-4pm, the zoo is offering trick-or-treating, costumes contests, arts & crafts, and some special performances. (little ones can join in on this one). Then the zoo also hosts Spooky Zoo Nights which happens from Oct. 30-31 7pm-11pm. You get to experience the park during after hours with scary tram rides, haunting carousel rides, and scary story-telling around a fire pit.
3. For you theater lovers, the Adrienne Arsht Center For The Performing Arts will be showcasing Deathscribe for four nights starting Oct. 27-30th. Deathscribe consists of horrifying radio scripts performed by the talented Wildclaw Theatre from Chicago. For ticket information go to:
4. Lastly, what’s Halloween without Wynwood. The biggest FREE halloween party will be happening Oct. 31. There will be everything from food trucks to fully stocked bars. Ohh and a 240″ jumbo screen showing classic horror films. The Rocky Horror Picture Show will also be making an appearance. And again, there will be a costume contest (are you seeing the pattern?). But this time, party-goers can win a cash prize of $500. AND if you register on their website, you can get a free drink.
Hope this has helped out!
